My fuel gage is running wild. It was reading 1/2 tank and when I turned the engine off and restarted the car it was now reading 1/4 tank. I went and filled the tank up and it took 14 gallons. It is the second time it has given me a false reading. With my luck I will take it to the dealer and I know it will not do it then. Any ideas what can be wrong. Thanks and Happy New Year. My corvette is a 2001 C5 Coupe.

Carlos Hello Abnsteelvette, Your symptoms of your fuel gauge are very common to this model. On the earlier 99-2000 C5's GM had redesigned fuel sending units. However, for your model there is a reprogramming of the PCM for this problem, which only the dealer can do for you. It is not a very expensive repair. They will need to use the TechII monitor.Hope this helps. Have a Happy New Year.:chevy: MKOTZE

Thanks for your help. I dropped my car at the dealer tonight for them to work on the problem. I will let you know what they find. Thanks
