Friday I received my limited production 2004 and 2003 American Muscle Collectors Edition Z06's. The '03 is the 50th Anniversary and it's blue, but not EB. It looks like the Lemans Blue, very dark. I'm was a little confused because I thought the Electron Blue was on the '03's for half the year. Maybe someone can clarify. The '04 Z06 diecast is 1 out of 5,000 and the '03 is 1 out of 7,500. Really neat....it came with a tool box and on both models the side mirrors are removed and taped on to the inside of the box so they don't break. Now I have a Millenium Yellow made by Maisto and I know Maisto came out with a limited Electron Blue for '02 that Target Stores were sellling at the time. When I ordered the '04 from American Muscle, I noticed that they had the '03 and it just said blue, so I took a chance thinking it would be the EB, but it wasn't. So I got on Ebay and someone was selling an '02 Rare Maisto EB Z06. The bidding was at $26.50. So I figured before I bid on it I would check with the new Target store they just opened in my area. My wife was shopping there on Saturday and just decided to check and guess what? There was one and only one mixed in with all the other diecasts. The price said $19.99, but when she got to the register, it only rang up as $14.99. I guess the Z's are going down in price:lol:. Boy, was I really happy to get it. I have been searching all year.
So now I have the '01 MY, '02 EB, '03 blue (looks like Lemans Blue) and the '04 Commemorative Lemans Blue.
Looking at the detail in these models, the American Muscle shows the dash board with a center hump on both the '03 and '04, and I know the dashes are the same from '01 through '03. The detail especially on the wheels is sharper on the Maisto model. I know American Muscle is supposed to be a higher quality diecast, but I really think Maisto did a better job on the detail this time. That's my opinion.
Waiting now for the MY Z06 from the Franklin Mint which is limited production also.
