Not sure why they dont have to convert in Japan. I've spent a bit of time in Japan, and there's alot of things they do that dont seem logical in our cultures (Great people though). Makes it dangerous to overtake trucks etc, driver can't see what's coming until most of the car is already on the wrong side of the road!
