I recently purchased amy 1988 35th Anniversary Edition. I bought it from the original owner who I know very well. The care has 19000 miles and is in pristine original condition. I wonder if it would be OK to change over to Mobil 1. It has always had mineral oil to date. Are the engine seals suitable for Mobil 1. I don't want to take any chances. Thanks

Here's a related link to a previous post asking the same question.
.Changing over to synthetic (http://www.fatherlarryscorvetteshop.com/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?threadid=472)
Bob Pache is on the road with the Penske team, so it's sometimes hard for him to be here all the time, but if you go through all of his posts, there some good reading of questions and answers relating to synthetic oil which may help you. I think he answered every possible oil question here. Just browse through them.
Some people would say that synthetic is too thin for older engines and leaks could occur. I also heard just the opposite. I have changed all my cars over to synthetic, and I haven't had any problems.

I am sorry that I don't get a chance to look at these memos more often but I agree that unless you have a mechanical condition, there is no problem to changing over to a superior lubricant such as Mobil 1 with Super Syn. I would reccomend that you use Mobil 1 10W-30.
And yes, I am busy with NASCAR and IRL. We, Mobil, are now the official oil of NASCAR and I often have to deal with other NASCAR teams in the Winston Cup, Busch and Truck series. I was at the Michigan race last week and will be going to Darlington next week. In any regards, I am still willing to help in any lube or Mobil 1 related questions.
