Ok, when the heck is GM going to issue a recall or service bulletin for the drivers seat rocking on the FRC? Two years is long enough.

Hey Mike, I'll take the rocking seat, you take the engine noise!
This could fall under auto-body work. What exactly is the seat doing? Is it a six way seat? Did you have the problem when the car was new, or did it gradually come about? I have an FRC and I'm 240 pounds and I haven't experienced any trouble with it yet.
Usually after a while the pins start to wear from the weight of the person, or from getting in and out or stop and go, and it puts a lot of stress on the structure of the seat. It usually happens after the car gets older. My opinion with these new seats they have in the Corvette, is that they are much lighter in weight, so you may feel more movement in them.
If you're car is still under warranty, they could order whatever part may be necessary. It's usually an easy fix or replacement of worn or broken part. But, the only way you can tell is to take the seat out and check it.
I wouldn't wait for a recall if I were you. If it's still under warranty, bring it in. It's funny you brought this up. My son has a '68 Eldorado and we had to take the seat out, because it was rocking. The bracket that was attached to the track on the left side, where the bolt threaded into the seat, broke away from stress. I had to take one side of the track off, disconnect the cables from the motor and the regulators and I had to weld the two pieces back together again and reassemble it. It doesn't sound like that is your problem, but you never know. If the seat is that loose then definitly take it in, regardless of whether its under warranty or not. Don't attempt what I did unless you can handle an oxygen setalene torch or a mig.
Mike, if you heard of this problem with the seats, feel free to pitch in.

F/L, where you been? Almost all C5`s suffer from this. Supposedly there`s a new part # (actually it`s been around awhile) for the memory seat but not the regular 6 way.
If you go under warrantee, they might replace the seat track with the exact same defective part. This has been since new and it`s supposedly the plastic gears.
The roads haven`t been too bad up here so I`ve been driving the car and it seems to have gotten worse.

I have the same problem with my '99 and it only has 13,000 miles on it. I know that it is not a weight problem. Everyone I have talked to is aware of the fact that it is a design flaw that GM apparently has chosen to overlook...they know we won't swear off of a Corvette just because of a rocking seat!!!

F/L - Don't worry about scratching your head on the engine noise...that is all I have gotten from anyone in the last year. I figure if I keep asking enough people I will run across someone who has experienced the same thing.

Hi Dinosaur, Obviously there is no service bulletin or recall for the seats. However, I have run into this a few times before. First some play on the tracks of the seat is normal but if it seems to be excessively loose, on the track, the track assembly would need to be replaced. If the rocking is coming from the seat back it could be a simple misalignment of the recliner mechanism. This can possibly corrected by doing the following. Sit in the seat and move the recliner adjustment back and forth past your preferred setting. Then return it to your preferred setting. This sometimes allows the seat to realign itself. Give it a try and let me know what happens. Corvette Kotze

I`ll try that although I don`t have much faith in it. Thanks.

Just bought a '99 coupe, it's my first Vette. The passenger seat
(not a memory seat) moves loosely about an inch. Took it to a Chev dealership and was told that the cost is $970.00 to replace the mechanism (the mechanism alone costs about $700.00). Is there a simple adjustment or inexpensive part replacement that I should chect out? Hope I haven't bought a money pit! Thanks for you help.
