I have a 1967 Goodwood Green Vette. After repairing a small crack in the fenderwhell I was informed by my paint supplier that Acrylic Lacquer was not longer available. They suggested that I use Urethan and repaint the entire panel. I did purchase some Urethan and painted an old hood I had but in no way does the Uretahn macth the existing paint as to luster, finish (color is close but not exactly on the money). I don't want to repaint the entire car because the paint is factory original and except for the repair area in great shape for it's age. Anybody have any suggestions?

Good to see you around PapaSmurf.
I know exactly where you're coming from. Gov't restrictions are making the availability of lacquers very difficult and expensive, because of the shellac-lead content that may be hazardous. But, there are still some distributors that may carry, or may be able to do a mix for you in your color. I have been out of Long Island for many years, but here are some names, if they're still around, that you may want to try.
Colvin Motor Parts, Sunrise Hwy in Merrick.
Hussline Auto Parts
Goodfellow Auto Supplies
I don't know if they're still around, because I've been retired for a number of years. I have a friend with a body shop out here in PA. I had some lifting on my front bumper on my Z06. I went to buy the materials and it came to $173. The color is Electron Blue Metallic. When I explained the process that I was used to doing, they told me that the process has changed quite a bit with the new base coat-clear coat urethane colors. So instead of me messing around with it, I gave it to someone that I know is very capable of bringing it right to factory match. A lot of the body shops today have their own mixing booths and are able to tint the colors much better than they did years ago. There are plenty of good Corvette shops out on the Island. I would call Vette Doctors, being you're not too far from them. Ask for Sal. They have a great body shop and I heard they do great work. You should definitely do research before taking the first opinion. There are shops out there that still can do the lacquer blend that you're looking for. If you have any questions, call Paul at B&S Autobody and explain the situation to him. He has all the equipment and setups and would be able to do the lacquer blend that you're looking for I'm sure . Tell him FatherLarry sent you and he'll take very good care of you. His shop and painter are totally unbelievable. They do a lot of Hot Rods for the Macungie Hot Rod show out here, and their main business is restoration of Corvettes. It's worth the trip, because his labor rate is much lower than in NY. And, it is definitely worth the phone call. His number is (610) 944-0181. Let me know how you make out.
