over a dozen.... most were advertised as "like new" or "Low miles"...most were neither. I guess my standards are higher when spending over 30K. I saw the hardtop that I have at Carlisle in August just before 9/11. Kerbeck wanted $37,500.’s and it was just a little more than I wanted to spend for another white car (at the time I had a 93 cp. White with a black interior). After 9/11 and the weeks that followed I decided that it was time to buy the car. The price was now down to $32,000.’s. I was like everyone at that time down in the dumps and wondering if there was going to be another disaster... or how many other young people were going to loose their lives for no reason...and coming up on the one year anniversary of my heart attack..., with the new lower price..I called to see if they still had the car, "Yes it was still there".... I got in my 93 and drove down to Atlantic City and after seeing the car and sitting in it I made up my mind that I had to have it. The FRC hardtop had struck a chord with me, the first time I saw the new body style, and I knew that I had to have one. The drive home was great, back roads in the "Pine Barons" sharp corners, then the NJ Turnpike to home in Pa. Nimble, quick, comfort, easy shifting, lite clutch, great gas milage wow what a car. I love the car and I’m the luckiest guy in the world to get a second chance at life and a second chance at owning one of the true best sports cars in the world. As for the color...well the white did grow on me but when I get my C-6 I don’t think it will be ARTIC WHITE.....

Redgar, did you own any other cars that you raced? How did you get to know Carmen at Vette Doctors on LI? Long Island was my home town.

I had a C4 before I ought the c5 for about a year.
I got into vettes becasue of one of Carmen's customers, Bill Maloney. Bill peer pressured me into buying a vette to race with him. He has used Carmen for like 5 or 6 years. Bill has had a string of vettes and currently owns a 90 turquoise zr-1 and a 97 black C5 with a 422 built by Dennis that they are hoping will run 9s. If you go there you might see Bill's car there. He has a 10 point cage in it.

I'm sure you're happy, because you made a good choice. The C5 bodystyle definitely has it over the C4.
Carmen has some business there. I believe that Larry Merrow gave them the idea for the name Vette Doctors? They used to run their shop under Ramp Chevrolet. In fact, Ramp Chevrolet owns the name Vette Doctors. When Carmen & Dennis went out on their own they couldn't even use the name. They had to change it to The Vette Doctors. I believe there is a story about them in the first issue of the Corvette Magazine.

I own a Z06 now, however I previously owned a '65 coupe and a '67 rag top. When I saw the C5 body style at the NY Colliseum I knew they had a winner. I knew that the back was going to take time for people to get used to, even myself. Just like the '63 body style when it first came out. I have a feeling that this C5 will be in the class of C2 bodystyles and will be the second time there is a true classic bodystyle, especially the hardtop look.;bt :chevy: :usaribbon

I didn't do much looking at all. I knew I wanted an AE, and was trying to decide on a coupe or convertible. I got a great deal on the convertible and bought it sight unseen from 1300 miles away!! In fact, it had just got unloaded from the truck the weekend I called down there.

My first Vette was a 66 vert. I was going down to Kerbeck to pick up a new C4 when I went to a local auction. The car didn`t sell but the owner is local. We made a deal and that was that.
I`ve had a 1989 coupe, a 1992 6speed coupe and a 2000 HT. The Z I ordered local from our sponsoring dealer. This is where the show is next Sat.
