Hey Mike, I have not had a chance to drive my vette since you put the new water pump in it and fixed the oil leak but there is hope..spring may come around here sooner or later.

Anyway..I was wondering what type of tires you have heard are good for the vettes..its the 1993. I do not really drive the car in the rain UNLESS im caught out in it but I will need some rain traction. I would love to have a set of GSC's on it because I like things stock but they are way way to pricy for me. What brands have you heard good things about and are not as pricey?

Does Outten sell any and at a good price?

Thanks for any info

Try this link. It may help you decide on what tire or brand you would like. Tire Performance & Ratings (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/max.jsp)

Mike will be with you shortly. I am sure Outten will be able to get you a good deal. Also, depending on the amount of driving you do, and the speeds that you bring your car up to, will determine what aftermarkets might be a good fit and what thread design is best, especially for noise reduction. Very aggressive tires tend to be very noisy. :smoke:

Thanks for any info Hello Greyghost, I sure hope spring is around the corner too. Now about your tires. There is an online dealer that has good prices on all tires especially Goodyears. I have used them before as well as some of my other customers and they have good service. The website is www.tirerack.com. They have your GSC tires front for $283.00 and the rear tires for $208.00. Also check out the Goodyear F1 tires front $189.00 and rear tires $188.00.I hope this helps.:chevy: MKOTZE

Hello,
GoodYear Eagle Ultra HPs are the way to go. I replaced the GSCs on my wifes 40th Annivarsary Coupe with them.
They Out handle and ride better than the GSC's
Good Year will even tell you that they are a better tire.
Dunlop has very good tires also, SP 8000. I ran them on an 88 coupe that my wife had, they handled great.

Hello Rick Ball, I think your suggestion for GreyGhost's tire selection is a good one. By the way, Greyghost What kind of tires did you decide to get?:chevy: MKOTZE

If you decide on Goodyear F1's you might want to check out ebay. I just purchased 4 for my 1990 vette for $592 including shipping and I received them within 4 days. The guy has a couple of sets on there now and sells them on a regular basis. Just drop him an email and he should sell them to you for that. You can't beat the price and they seem to be great tires to me. It makes a burnout every once in awhile a little more affordable :) I just got mine 6 weeks ago and had to try it a couple of times....lol Just type in "Goodyear F1" and look for your size, you should find them without a problem. Well I finally got new tires. I got a great, great deal on a set of GS-C's for the car. I am a stickler for OEM stuff and I figured that I would get the GS-C's one last time..since they have stopped production on them. I got them put on friday morning and they are great. I know they are 10+ tire technology but that is what I wanted..so I am happy:D

That's what it's all about, purchasing something that makes you feel right. Sometimes people fall victim to marketing strategies but it takes time and research to make a wise consumer.

Enjoy your ride for the summer. :smoke:

I haven't heard (read) any talk about Michelins! My experience with Good Year has not been the best-from my early Camaros to my 1980 Vette. I still have the original tires on my `95 as it is so far a low mileage car and I have to say that I'm not that impressed, although their age and probable flat spots from sitting doesn't help.

I know Michelins are a little pricey but their performance in my past experiences was great!

Any comments? I'll be needing tires in the near future and am trying to get informed before making my final decision.

Stitch, Corvette Kotze should be with you shortly to answer your battery question.

As far as your tires, they do start to get dry after sitting for so many years, even though they don't have much mileage. As far as choice of tires, my choice would be Michelin also, especially for the unitized chassis on the C4's. What I mean by that is that Michelin has a very well designed side wall for competition, but also the sidewall has a flex and recovery rate which puts most of the shock into the tire instead of the unitized rails which have a tendency to flex with a harder sidewall. A friend of mine has a '91 ZR1 and he went to Michelins and you can't believe the difference. It's like night and day. :smoke:

Here's a link with tire ratings. Hope it helps.

My Goodyear Eagle STII tires are about 13 years old, look great, handle great, and hopefully never come apart! Yep, after about 5 years, REPLACE THEM if you drive any distance at any speed. They are a problem waiting to happen. You usually get a 4 to 5 year warranty for the good ole creacking at the bead (rim) area. (Its old age). They can't warrant them forever!
