Why couldn't the c5 keep up. ZR1 that much faster.

It worked for me now. Looks like the guy in the C5 didn't know how to shift to bring his rpms up enough. He shifted too short of his 5500 rpms. You can catch a glimpse of it in the beginning, and his shifts were short. Also, you wouldn't see that if it were a Z06 vs ZR1.

Wasn't such an exciting race. We know top end the ZR1 it's 180+ mph. But the regular C5 didn't seem like it was getting pushed too much. I think your right Davis, his shifts were short. It would have been funny if the guy in the Z at the end of the race said to the C5, "I forgot to turn my key on"

I just came back from a dinner engagement and the person that held the party was bragging about his Vettes. This guy was a little too much for me. So I started talking about my hardtop. Well we got into discussions about which Vette we thought was the best Vette in styling, performance, maintenance wise etc. Naturally, I said the C5 hardtop. So with a little smirk on his lip he said follow me, and I did along with a few other guests. He took me into what he called his garage. Well, lights on! It was every American boy & girls dream. There sat a '55 Corvette, a '57 Corvette fuelie, a '63 Z06 fuelie (silver with black interior), remember there were only 199 of these made, a '67 L88, a '69 black 427 with three dueces with black interior and chrome factory sidepipes and chromed vented sides, with BF Goodrich radials on it, I would have preferred the redliners. He also had a '70 LT1 which is under restoration, a '90 Black ZR1 and his new addition is a 2002 EB Z06. What more could anyone want?
As I was standing there, at of all the Vettes he had, the '69 black was sitting next to his black ZR1. I always thought when the hood was open on the ZR1, that it really made an impressive difference against other Vettes, but this '69 out shone every car there and more so with the hood open with that triangle shaped air cleaner that houses the three dueces. I love these ZR1 owners that claim that the ZR1 is the King and they paid $70k-$80k for them. I truly think that the '69 blows the doors off the ZR1 with looks, character and a big block that could hold up against an overhead small block. I think the ZR1 is too hyped up, because they were going after a certain market and some of these rich dudes fell into it. I think the sleepers like the '63 and the '69, and now the Z06 are the better Vettes. The Z06 isn't getting half the limelight that the ZR1 got, and it stands to reason that people won't be fooled again. Just my opinion for what it's worth. This guy that has this collection was asked which is his favorite and he said the Z06 and it's the most fun to drive.

As soon as I see one of the big block Vettes go 180mph, I will stop calling the ZR1 the King of the Hill.
