I am getting ready to buy a new set of shocks and i am thinking of getting the Bilstein Xtreme that are made for autocross. I only drive my 95 Corvette on the street but i want a really good suspension. I know these shocks will make my ride stiff but how stiff? Is there any other guys running these same shocks, they sell them through Ecklers and VBP. Need feedback. Thanks

Thanks Hello YellowC4, without knowing what suspension you already have it would be difficult to make a good recommendation. In my opinion if you are only going to drive on the street I would not recommend the Bilstein Xtreme shocks, as this will drive uncomfortably stiff. However, there are other Bilstein shocks, such as the Bilstein sport which would improve handling without effecting the ride as stiffly as the Xtremes. What suspension system do you have? Do you have Bilstein shocks already? Do you have heavy duty sway bars or springs? Let me know and I can give a better recommendation.:chevy: MKOTZE

Currently i have the stock bilstein shocks on there, and all the other suspension componets are stock. I know it will be stiff but is it really bad? what exactly does it do? Thanks a lot for your help. What other shocks do you recommend? I really want my suspension to handle really good.

Hello Again YellowC4, First of all, the shocks are only part of your suspension system. If you really want better handling then you should go with the Bilstein Sport Shocks I recommended and Then change both front and rear sway bars to heavy duty versions, which are larger in diameter. I would try that first but if you wanted more you would want to change your bushings from rubber to polyurethane bushings on all your suspension components. Last you could upgrade to a higher rate spring for the front and the rear. However by making this last change, it will make the car ride very stiff. :chevy: MKOTZE

Hello YellowC4, Yes you are right the Eckler catalog is not very clear on which one is the sport shocks. However I know what you need so here are the part numbers, 32517-Front sport shocks and 32518-Rear sport shocks. I also checked on pricing and Ecklers is the best price if you buy a set of 4, which you are doing. The price for a set of 4 sport shocks is $279.99. All the other places were more expensive and no discount for a set. Good Luck.:chevy: MKOTZE

Thank you for all your help. I am going to order those shocks and the sway bars as soon as possible. I have one more question, I am thinking about lowering the car about 1 inch. What do you think about this? I found a kit in Ecklers and VBP, I think its wedges in the front and longer studs in the back. What is your opinon about this? Thanks again.

Hello YellowC4, In my opinion I would only do the shocks, swaybars, and the bushings first. See how it handles and then if you are not satisfied you could consider lowering it. Good Luck:chevy: MKOTZE

Hello, i finally installed the bilstein sport shocks and the upgraded 32 in front and 26 in rear sway bars. These mods have improved handling. But the vette still doesnt handle like i want it to. I am going to try to explain the way it rides and the way i would like it to ride. When i am driving down the street the car seems bouncy. I want the body to be stiff. I hope i have explained this well, its kinda hard to explain but thats the best i can do. What do you recommend i do? Thanks

Thanks Hello YellowC4, Since the car is still too bouncy for you I would suggest you upgrade the front and rear springs to heavy duty versions. It would also be a good idea to upgrade the bushings to a polyurethane bushing. This should give you the stiffness you are looking for. Good Luck:chevy: MKOTZE
