This has turned into a very cool site--obviously a lot of work and thought has gone into it. Where are all the hits? I'm truly surprised.

I can't understand it either. :banghead: I know FL has put a lot of work into it and there are no sponsors so I now it comes out of his own pocket. It's a great looking site too. I love his improvements. I even noticed that people join, but never post. They lurk around and just seem to read without posting, because there are an awful lot of views to a lot of these posts. I don't get it either. I'm going to try to spread the word. There are a few of us regulars here and found it to be a very nice forum.

Cause there is no cursing and no porn:) .
Just kidding of course.
Well, I've been lurking for awhile and saw this as a good oportunity to introduce myself. My name is Paul, I'm 34 and live on L.I. New York. I don't own and never have owned a Vette but it is without a doubt my ultimate dream car...ever since I was a little kid. Why no Vette? Cash is the reason...never had much of it. House...wife blah, blah, blah....you know the deal. Anywho...I have a really good job lined up for myself and was kicking around the idea of a nice used Vette. This is what brought me here. I've been searching the web for anything and everything Vette related. Trying to find prices and pics...ANYTHING.
Any advice you guy's can give would be great. Basically I'm looking for a C5 coupe, 6 speed, clean, low miles. Realistically what kind of money am I looking at? Have you guy's ever heard of "Unique Corvettes" here on L.I. ? If so are they a good option if I were to go through a used dealer and maybe finance?
Again, thanks for any help.

Welcome aboard fellow Long Islander:cheers:
Glad you found us. I from LI originally and retired here in PA. Yes, I know of Unique Corvettes. I feel his prices are a little high. I've seen nice C5's starting from '97 with higher mileage going for about $22K-$24K sold privately. I would suggest calling James Outten from Outten Chevrolet, Allentown, PA and tell him FatherLarry sent you. He could work out the figures for you and he could tell his used car manager to look out for one at the auction. He will also give a discount to my members. Look under Participating Vendors forum and he has posts there where you'll find his telephone number. If you want to private message me and tell me what your budget is, I can keep my eyes open for you.
Well, it's nice to have you join us Paul. Hope you enjoy the site and have a Vette real soon. We were all in the same boat at one time or another. It will come....be patient. I'm sure all our members will try to help you out. :smoke:

Welcome aboard! I'll keep a look out. The C5 is the best Vette yet, and the most modable.:wavey:

Thank's for the welcome guy's. I'm not quite ready to buy just yet...perhaps in the summer. I should have about 20k cash and was thinking 25-27k range could get me in one? Does that sound about right, or am I nuts? Could I find something real nice for roughly 25k?

Welcome to FatherLarry's Corvette Shop. You're right on target with the money. You can get a real nice one. And, you could also get a nice ZR1 for that. At you're age the price of the ZR1 will only go up. The Z06's are still pretty high because they're still new, but the ZR1 would be a good choice as it keeps up with the Z06. Good luck.

Welcome aboard! I know some don't think that the forum is too active, but it gets a lot of views and people browsing. Look, we even have Y2K coming here to browse. As a matter of fact, he's our top poster this week. Two weeks ago it was FinWolf and before that TopVette had his reign. We all take turns at being the top bananna. This site is young yet and Fatherlarry owned a black '99 hardtop (so we dealt with his black background forum), and now a 2002 Z06 Electron Blue, need I say more. I'm here to stay with this site.

If I can take a guess as to why not much traffic, the name of the site is misleading.
www.fatherlarryscorvetteshop.com
looks like it might be a religous site with the father in it.
the term corvette shop implies a parts seller or repair shop but it isn't that either.
Add to that the heavy reference to Long Island and you are left with a small niche crowd who know what Father Larry means and is in the New York area.
That being said, it is a beatifully done site and lots of effort is put into the form.

It is a beautifully done site, I have to agree. On the contrary, to what you said, I really didnt' think for a minute that it was a religous site. I found the site through a yahoo search and with the name Corvette in the name I took a peek, and I'm glad I did.
I know there seems to be a lot of Ny ers here, but there are 240 members from all over the US. A lot of them just don't post.
I think a site such as this takes time. It really isn't the run of the mill, in my opinion. And, yes the name is different from the rest, but I think kind of catchy if you really think about it.
I have enjoyed the site all the way from Utah and felt accepted right away.

Father Larry does not sound religious?
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
I asked Larry to tell me why he is called Father Larry and was quite pleased by the reply.
Hope to meet him one day at the track too.

I didn't say that fatherlarry did not sound religous. It does, of course. I said that I didn't think for a minute it was a religous site. The fact that fatherlarry has a Corvette shop and it shows up in search engines when you're looking for Corvette info, or forums, I would be inclined to lean towards the idea that its a site about Corvettes & forums, not religion. Also, the name of the site is Fatherlarrys Corvette Shop & Forum.
I don't mean to seem agrumentive, I am just stating what my personal reaction was. I'm sure on the surface it could seem to be religous, and probably most people don't look past their own noses. I guess the fact that we found it makes us a REALLY unique group.
