This might be a dumb question but i am not sure what my stock transmission is called? I have a 1995 Corvette 6-speed. I also want to find out what stock gears i have in the rear end? Is there any way i can find this out? Thanks

If you rotate the rear tire one time and count the drive shift turns it is a fast way to find out. I think you can do it that way.

I am still confused? I see that not too many guys post on this forum. What do most 6 speed C4 vettes come with?

yellowc4,

Mike will get to you shortly. I'm sure he'll have your answer. He has torn apart plenty of them.

your trans is a ZF six speed and I think it has a 3.07:1 rear. Kotze will know for sure ....

is the 345's a performance option? It should step out good with that rear.

Well i do not believe that 3.45s is a performance option. There is a G92 option that is the performance rear end ratio. But i am not sure what that ratio is but i know its not 3.45s.

Just some interesting facts on the ZF:

Designed by Chevrolet and Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen (ZF) and built by ZF in Germany, this tough-as-nails six-speed was available in the Corvette up to the conclusion of the '96 model year. Today, the Corvette uses a Tremec T56 six-speed mounted at the back of the car.

Is there any way i can find this out? Thanks Hello Yellowc4, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. However, I've been working out in my garage in this freezing cold weather so it hasn't left me much time for answering the forum. Sorry about that. With any C4 or later corvette there is a service parts identification label witch contains all the production codes that the vehicle was built with. You'll find this label located in the rear floor storage compartment behind the passenger seat. As for the rear end options there were only 4 available rear end ratios for your model. Two are for the automatic- they are GM1-2.59 to 1 gear ratio, nextis the G44- 3.07 to 1 gear ratio. Then there are two for the manual transmission. They are GT7-3.33 to 1 gear ratio(which is the standard ratio) Next is GM3-3.45 to 1 gear ratio(which is the optional performance gear ratio). This is the G92 code. There are no other available gears from GM. However, there are aftermarket gears with the ratio of 3.73 to 1 available. Which is the highest I would recommend using on the street. If you go with the aftermarket gears you will also have to reprogram the computer to keep the speedometer accurate. I hope this helps.Sorry again for taking so long.:chevy: MKOTZE
