I'm thinking of removing the dashboard on my Z06. It's kind of rippily and it seems to be getting worse. Have you done one? Is it a big job? Thanks father.

Z06Joe,

Your car is still under warranty. I would bring it down to the dealer and usually if it's that bad they will order you a new dash and install it. Yes I did replace mine because it too was very rippely. A lot of times it's caused by the sun and heat. It's not a big job, but if you don't usually do this sort of thing, and you are still under warranty, then I would take it to the dealer. It takes less than a day to do the job, and around 16-20 ten millimeter screws to hold it in place. You also have to remove the shift column that houses the radio and heater controls. Also the sail panel moldings on the windshield need to be removed. Let me know how you make out and good luck.

PS. If you do replace it, you should get a dash cover for the new one. They're about $40 and they fit perfect. I really like mine and it has a C5 emblem on it.

I brought it to the dealer and they said they would order the dash and when it come in they will have me out the same day. I also ordered the dash cover, as you recommended. I ordered it from Corvette America. Next I'm going to order the Cleartastic. Thanks for the tip about it being on warranty. I never thought they would cover that on warranty.

I have seen many different dash covers for the C5...what is everybody getting....thanks

I ordered mine from Mid America. I think it was around $79. It fits nice and has the C5 emblem where the air bag goes. I'm very happy with it. I bought it for my hardtop when I had it. Now I have the Z06 and it has Head Up Display, but I didn't bother cutting it out, because I just keep it on at car shows, so the sun doesn't warp the dash. Ecklers also has one that's supposed to be good.;bt :usaribbon
