For the past few days my check engine light has been coming on telling me to service traction control system. Lost a lot of power and had to restart. What does this mean? Can you help me out with this one Mike?

Can you help me out with this one Mike? Hello Kennyhardtop, There are numerous possibilities for your problem. I could use a little bit more information, like for instance Exactly what sayings does the driver information center tell you? Did the car actually shut off? Did the car restart immediately afterwards? One possibilty which could lead to reduced power would be a problem in the throttle actuator control system. As you might know there is no cable betwen the accelerator pedal and the engine. Instead they use an accelerator pedal position sensor. There are actually three sensors in one housing that sends a signal to the TAC module that in turns communicates with the PCM(Powertrain control Module). If one sensor fails the light will come on, if two sensors fail it will go into reduced power mode and if all the sensors would fail it would be undriveable. I would suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified technician that has access to a TechII monitor to further diagnose the problem.Good Luck. Let me know what the outcome is.:chevy: MKOTZE

Mike, I brought it into the dealership and they tested it and replaced the Tac Module, however, if was fine for a few days and now it's happening again. When I read your post last night, I brought it back to the dealer today, and you were right. It was two sensors that were bad. One I guess effected the other. They told me to thank you and wanted to know if you need a job? The funny thing is that they charged me for changing the Tac Module also, even though it seems as if that wasn't the problem, and it's expensive cause I'm out of warranty, but they told me if the others were bad I would need the Tac Module also. I doubt it, but I paid it anyway. Thanks Mike, you're are very knowledgable.

Hello kennyhardtop, I'm glad to hear that everything worked out okay. Without seeing the data from the original diagnosis there would be no way to tell if you needed the module or not. Although it is possible that you may have needed it also. Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad I could help. :chevy: MKOTZE
