Arranging to buy a 2001 Coupe (6 speed). We had a 1977 4 speed (mine) and 1976 (auto - Wife's) all through the 1980s. I am now days away from completing the purchase of a 2001 Coupe. How long do the stock tires and brakes usually last on one of these doing mostly suburban/rural driving? ANy suggestions on replacement. I don't beat on my cars (mostly touring with some "spirted" runs up the highway.

Glad you joined us. How much mileage is on the 2001 you are buying? Are you buying from a private owner or a dealer?

On the Goodyear runflats, depending on your driving habits, you could get around 30,000 miles on it, and with the 6 speed, I have heard of guys averaging about 40,000 miles out of their brake pads. With a 6 speed, you do save on the brakes if you downshift, so that's a plus. On your brake pads question, I would ask Corvette Kotze in the Tech section here. He can give you a more qualified answer.
