View Full Version : Sticky clutch
Mike you are very helpfull here. The time has come again for me to go the dealer. My clutch is doing something wiered. I drive my car as it should hard, but I can not understand. I have heard about this from a couple of other threads. i would like your openion either here or in private. My clutch seems to stick slightly when coming up from the floor after I shift it is very noticealbe when I down shift from fourth to third or third to second. this only happens when I run the card a bit hard. I f I take it nice and easy it never happens. It is becomeing a common problems now. i checked my fluid today and it apeared to be dark and murky as if it was a 10 year old brake fluid that has never been serviced, thats what the clutch fluid looked like. I there something going on here that I should be aware of anthing I can tell the dealer to help them out. My car only has 5,300 mile on now this does not seem normal.

Hello Jem, First off it is not unusual for the brake fluid to change in appearance. From the description of the problem it sounds like the clutch pressure plate is staying disengaged due to centrifigal force working on the diaphragm spring. This is what is causing it to appear to be sticking because on a hydraulic clutch system the only thing that returns the pedal is the diaphram spring pushing on the slave cylinder. You may need to consider changing the clutch system to a high performance after market system. I would recommend this if you are going to keep running the car hard it will last longer than the stock diaphram. Good luck.:chevy: MKOTZE
