Mike,

How much more is actually added to the Z06, opposed to the Hardtop. I know the heads are ported differently, intake manifold, valves, rims and tires, pushrods, coated pistons, air intake box and exhaust, and it's geared a little higher.

I know you're busy, so no need to answer right away.

PS. I read an article about exhaust, and they actually said that the exhaust on the factory units are more expensive because they have to meet gov't standards. The aftermarkets that they get exhorbitant prices for, don't need to meet as heavy standards, hence a cheaper exhaust system for more money. Don't quite understand that. Might as well split the mufflers open and do some modifications on the baffles and mig them back together, and voila a $2,000 muffler.

VinceC5,

Basically it's all mods that GM added to the Z06 to increase the performance. They picked the hardtop because it's structurally lighter and stiffer and just added the mods on to the new series bodystyle. Here's a list of most of the changes which can also be added to your hardtop: 1) pistons 2) heads, cam lifter, pushrods and intake manifold 3) air filtering system 4) mass air flow sensor 5) calytic converter 6) exhaust 7) drive tranny gear ratios 8) rims & tires 9) sway bars 10) dash board cluster head 11) light grouip 12) Bose system 13) seat design 14) elec climate control 15)windshield 16) brakes. Compression was slightly higher also.

Basically in the '99-'00 hardtop there were some options above that could have been ordered, except for the LS1 engine and the drive tranny gear ratio. Late '99's were able to order HUD. Hope this helps.
