Don't put too many miles on it, that may become a collectible before you're ZR1:lol: I just bought one for my wife. It's a 2000. It had everything I wanted. It was loaded, even HUD. It's red like she wanted. I know you're going to say I paid too much, but so did you guys for the ZR1. I paid $38,000 just a few months ago. I know the guy who bought it new. He owned a car stereo outfit. So now I have a black 1999 hardtop, my wife has the 2000 hardtop, and my baby is my '63 split fuelie.

I'll ask around. What are you looking to spend? I know you can probably get a nice 1999 for about $35K. I know you're looking for something with high mileage that might be cheaper. Good luck. For some reason they don't seem to be depreciating too fast, even the higher mileage ones. You're still saving $10,000 opposed to a Z06. And with a couple of mods.....lookout!

Hi fellow ZR1 owner. I bought my '99 hardtop new. I paid close to $44,000 with tax. Billy Bob my eye! A coupe was only a few hundred more. And, I think I lucked out when the Z06's came out, and they only added a couple of mods to it to make it a $50,000+ Vette. Talk about marketing. Anyway, I have to admit that my hardtop is far superior all around then my ZR1. I just love it. The only reason I'm holding on to my ZR1 is because its the first time that Corvette ever had a small block dual overhead cam, and they outsourced the mfg of the engine. So that will be the collectible in the C4 group.

As far as finding a high mileage hardtop, I dunno. They're probably out there, however once your brother owns one, he's not going to want to part with it. Most of the hardtops I've seen for sale are pretty low miles. Why a hardtop to run ragged? Coupes are out there for $24,000.....ummmmm.

Naturally, we are looking for a deal on the Hardtop, that why I posted here. It took a year but I found my Z on ZR1.net and think I got a pretty good buy there.

All we need is one and we are just beginning to look. Something will present itself eventually.

Thanks for your replies!
