The Collectors Edition was a unique silver-beige color. All Corvettes now came from the new Bowling Green plant. Production fell dramatically this year due to the anticipation of the brand new model soon to be released. The Collectors edition was the first Corvette to cost over $20,000.:smoke:

I have an 1982 Collectors Edition and I love it. I love the fact that the read hatch opens (only Vette with this capability), and the Silver/Beige paint. I bought the car locally about 4 years ago with 62,000 miles on it and has only 64,175 on it now. Got a great deal on it because he was going through a divorce and didn't want her to get the car.
The car is stock with the exception of it having 1982 alloy wheels on it, so I can restore the CE wheels. I polished the alloy's so they look like chrome. (Father Larry can attest to this)
The only thing missing are the stripes on the car because it was re-painted prior to my purchase of her. If my sig pic shows up you'll see what I'm talking about.

Welcome!

Your '82 looks great and so does your signature. Are you going to put the stripes back on and bring it back as close to original as possible? It looks like they didn't make that many. Well it's great having you on board and compliments to you and your dad and fatherlarry for getting involved with the stars & stripes.

Hi 82dukman,

I got done with one about a month ago. It was hit in the door and I ended up painting the whole car for him. I am in the auto body business. Nice to have you on the forum. The Carlisle show is coming up so you probably can pick up some wheels and other goodies.

Thanks guys. actually I am in the process of restoring the wheels, I just need the centercaps so I will look at Carlisle.
As fara s the stripes go, I checked into the aftermarket ones and they look like sh##. I don't plan on showing the car so I have an idea. I have a friend who owns an airbrushing byusiness. Since I have the paint code and some paint(brown), I am actually considering having the gradient stripes and pinstripes airbrushed on, and then having the car clear coated over it. then it wil never fade. Just an idea in its infancy right now.

Welcome to Fatherlarrys corvette shop.:wavey:

Make sure they don't put too much clear on. I had some airbrush work with clear done on my old vette and it started cracking after a while.

Thanks for the tip butler. Still deciding if that is the route I want to go. Don't really have $500 for an NOS set on Ebay:mad:
