Mike I was just curious. I used to have a ZR1 and the fittings they used on the high pressure and low pressure hoses where steel and aluminum. I remember that they replaced the hose before I sold it and they stripped because the two metals were not compatible. I'm just curious, on the new C5's are they the same way or did they go purely aluminum to eliminate that problem?

Also, what is different between the climate control and the mechanical air conditioning? Thanks Mike.

Yes, they did change to all aluminum fittings and most connections are bolted together and sealed with o rings. The function of both systems is identical. However, the difference is in how it is being controlled. In an electronic climate control system the temperature is controlled by the person setting the temperature and an in car temperature sensor. In the mechanical air conditioning you are controlling the amount of cold air. I Hope this helps.:chevy: MKOTZE

Thanks Mike. I never could figure out why GM ever used two different metals that are not compatible. The same with the aluminum heads on the cast iron block with steel gaskets. It actually starts eating away the aluminum. I rather stick with the mechanical air opposed to climate control. Thanks again. Your answers are always helpful.
