The interest in the Hardtop is starting to grow. At first the coupe and convertible market discarded them. But, now it seems the demand is starting to grow.
What has anyone else experienced?

I've noticed that the hardtop draws more attention at the cruise-ins than the coupes or 'verts. I guess that is because there are relatively few of them. I specifically went looking for a hardtop when I bought mine because I wanted to avoid all of the wind noise that I could. Little did I know about the other performance benefits of the hardtop. I wouldn't trade mine for anything but another hardtop...
GGs99 I love my hardtop. I was going to give it up for a Z06, but decided against it, because it's really not that much different. A few mods and it's equal or better, and it's the same exact body style. I would like a hardtop badge for the fender, though. I think father larry is working on it. I'm glad I didn't get caught up with the hype GM gives with their marketing strategy and spend $10k more.
As far as what people say, everywhere I go in CT or anywhere else, notices the car. Comments I had range from -love that style- to -isn't that a little different. One thing I wish is that I would have bought it in black. The white is pretty, and was real anxious, so when I saw it, I just bought it. What I really feel good about is that I have 1 of only 6,000.

My 99 has the same effect on people. I have had people come across parking lots to comment on the car. I was filling up in Mississippi and someone drove in just to look at the car.
I have been asked if I would ever trade mine for a later model. I tell people "no way". Mine is painted Nassua Blue. In 1999 there were only 202 hardtops painted Nassua Blue.
I brought mine when my youngest son graduated from college. I tell everyone thet it was my college graduation gift.

It is nice to have something that zillions of other people don't have...I have yet to see a '99 pewter/black like mine. I haven't been able to figure out where you find your production numbers, so if anyone can tell me I'd appreciate it. I still have the stock wheels on mine, and rather than go to the '00 or later polished wheels, I am having my stock rims painted pewter to match the car. Hopefully I really won't see another one like it...at least for a while.:D

The production numbers are on the Corvette History pages and the link is on my home page. There's links on top for different years, just click 1999-2000 Hardtops. I'll give you the direct link below.

It should be on your door sticker. Also, date of production is on a sheet in the trunk, glued under the compartment cover.
Give me the last 6 numbers of your vin and I'll check it for you. Otherwise, if you are a member of the C5 Registry, they have all the production timelines in their members only area.

When I first saw the hardtop, it spoke to me. I was tired of the C4 body style, and I wasn't sure whether I wanted a coupe or a vert. When my dealer called me and told me they got a Corvette in, and it was a third model, other than the coupe or vert, I went down to look. I was surprised. This car looked great, it was beautiful. And, it was different. I took it for a test drive and the car really moved. I bought it on the spot, and have never regreted it. I plan on keeping this beauty for a long time. :wavey:

I'm weird like that: I enjoy the uniqueness of mine and love it better than any car I had before, which means I will probably soon sell it. Two to three years of anything is about the limit for me.
