What do you prefer? Hardtop or FRC? I prefer Hardtop. I don't have a fixed roof coupe. I have a hardtop.

Great idea butler! I know Hartop is the correct term. Plus it does have a better ring then FRC.:chevy:

Definitely Hardtop!
I think that all corvette tradionalists would agree that the word "hardtop" definitely conjures up a nostalgic feeling. The word "hardtop" is a symbol of American culture, like the New York Yankees, Rock-n-Roll, the right to burn rubber at a stop light.

FRC? FRC? What is that? Fat Raggedy Car? :nono: No Hardtop is definitely the way to go. What else could you call it? The top doesn't come off, it not a vert, it doesn't have a hatchback. Looks to me like a true hardtop. Plus I like to say to people "I have a hardtop, not an FRC".

It Definitely has to be the hardtop. My wife says What is an FRC anyway? Is it a car? She knows what a hardtop is!! I think it's the best looking C5.:luxhello: :chevy:

OK! This seems like deja vu. Seemed to be arguing this point on another forum not too long ago. At least my argument is justified here. Hardtop of course as I don't really like calling it a coupe. :nono: :nono: :nono:

Hardtop all the way! By the way I love my avatar. You did a great job on it, and all the other ones too.:spin:
I find my self using both terms, but like Hardtop better.

I bought the car without joining any clubs or really talking to others about it. When I saw a Hardtop at a dealer, and I compared it to the ZR1 and the price, I thought to myself, who cars if I'm a second slower or so. The styling of this car is great and I was tired of the C4 styling. I always did refer to it as a hardtop, not an FRC. So be it as it may......Hardtop!

I like FRC , but I think Hardtop is good because it doesn't have coupe in it. I hate the word coupe. It reminds me of a Cadillac, like coupe de ville. Fixed Roof Coupe sounds like you had to fix the roof on the coupe. But I'm only a body man, so what do I know. Hardtop sounds tougher.:D

I vote HARD TOP. because that is what I have. The term FRC was not out when they made my car. you had a convertible or hard top that was it.

Hi Finwolf,
No problem about the delay. I know how things get busy. Thanks for the invite. About dinner, the last time I went to dinner to see someone's car, it ended up costing me six months in labor to redo his car:lol: . All kidding aside, this year won't work, because I am going with a few other cars and meeting father larry there. I want to get there the same time as he is so we can all park together. Maybe next time. Try to make it to Carlisle if you can this year. If not, I'll catch up with you another time. Are you Italian like me? Italians always invite you for dinner even if they don't know you:lol: Thanks again FinWolf, I look forward to meeting you one day.

About the picture, all I did was use the attach file located at the bottom of the post screen. I hit browse and selected it from pictures I had in (my pictures). I was surprised myself to see it post like that. I thought it was going to open as a link myself. Maybe it's some way I have my computer set. Not sure.

You know...I'll tell ya. You can tell that Italians have a sense of humor, a way with words, and their own special technique of communicating. And guess what? I'm one too. Alias Vinny. But I hate Vinny so I changed it to Vince.
In Staten Island, where I live, they have Todt Hill. That's where the former head of the mob, Castelano used to live, until John Gotti whacked him. The view from Castelano house is unbelievable. It overlooks the Hudson River and all of Manhattan. The house in the movie The Godfather, where the horses head was found in the bed is right next door to Castelano's and I believe the owner of that house is called the Cutlet King. Well, I figured I'd give you guys a little history.
So can I join in here. Just don't call me Vinny.:nono:

PS. I'm Italian too! The Godfather was a good series. And here's a picture of me. So watch it!

In the Dec. 01/ Jan 02 issue of America's Sports Car published by the N.C.M. Dave Hill said on page 9, " We intend to keep the Z06 one pure performance car and continue it as a fixed-roof coupe". If it's good enough for Dave Hill it's good enough for me... FRC  :D :wiggle:

11-12-2002, 08:36 PM
Although Dave Hill refers to it as a fixed roof coupe, GM refers to it as a hardtop and since GM owns Dave Hill, if it's good enough for GM, it's good enough for me.
vincec5
11-12-2002, 08:46 PM
I don't know why Dave Hill called it an FRC, because I have often heard him refer to it as a hardtop. I think maybe he was just trying to use the words to impact his statement. Apparantly he wanted to say fixed roof coupe, because most of your Corvette lovers are coupe and convertible lovers, and that's what generates most of the sales. So it's a play on words to appeal to the public. It's more familiar to the Corvette owners. Just think about it. It should be FRH for fixed roof hardtop. It's not a coupe in the terminology for Corvette. When someone thinks of a coupe they think of removeable tops and hatchback.
Now I'm not trying to change your mind, cause I'm sure you're old enough to decide what you like. And, my humble apologies to you, but when you think of an FRC you think of a removeable top with a hatchback.:wiggle: :wiggle:

Hi Y2KFRC,
Don't let these jabonies razzle you. I like hardtop, but to each their own. I think that since Corvette is all American, hardtop is more traditional:usaribbon :usaribbon :wiggle: And, I understand that if you changed your mind now, you'd have to change your user id. Just remember that for your sin, just say 10 Hail Mary's the next time you see Fatherlarry:lol: :chevy:

I have a ragtop but HARDTOP sounds the best to me. As a life long Biker I still need the wind in my face. It sure is nice to put the top up when it rains and to have a heater when it's cold and not to have to put my feet down @ stop signs anymore. All Corvettes are GREAT!!:chevy: Gerry & Betsy:chevy:
