Late in the 2003 calendar year, the 2004 C6 launch will reassert Corvette's role as a high-performance, technology leader. The exterior design will be slightly more daring, reflecting GM's current willingness to accept styling risks. Combining both soft curves and machined edges, the Corvette will push the bold design aesthetic exhibited in the Chevrolet Avalanche and Evoq into a provocative, muscular form.

Much of the core C5 engineering will live on, providing the foundation for not only the C6 but also its new sister, the 2003 Cadillac Evoq roadster. The C6 will incorporate the very latest version of "Active Handling" stability control providing sharper throttle response and fewer sags when the system is activated.

the C6 is expected to generate in the range of 370 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. A second, high-end C6 powerplant has also been whispered about. To move beyond the 400-horse mark, an increase in displacement is required.

Do you have a strong opinion on this car? Then share it with others on our discussion boards!

Lets hope GM has it's US Customers in mind. Trying for the European market is a bold move but who cares what they want.. Corvette is an AMERICAN sports car. If they want a smaller car buy a Cooper !! Sorry Bad Day At work !! :banghead: The C5 is a great and popular car with the U.S. Customers. Maybe I'll feel better when I see a C6 live and in person. Just because it will say CORVETTE on doesn't mean it will sell . And when people start wanting more leather and better this and better that ,then guess what happens to the price.. It will cost like a European car $$$$$$$ The upcoming generation will be looking at a Mazda or VW ... Guess it really was a bad day at work:usaribbon :usaribbon :chevy: Gerry :guiness:

 Here Here Gerry. Do you have any more friends like yourself. I couldn't agree with you more. I hope GM sticks strictly with the Corvette as a performance car instead of a luxury 2 seater.

For a mass produced car and for the price, I don't think our Vettes are as bad as some people make them out to be. I think the yuppies of today want to ruin the image of what the Corvette really represents and and turn it into a sissy. What I mean by that is that I see people talking on other sites and they discuss things like wanting their heated seats, heated mirrors, their blow up balloon seats for their backs. They want plush carpeting and the stitching that goes around the seat isn't good enough for them. They want perfect little stitchings. Man, THIS IS A CHEVROLET CORVETTE. Leave it to Cadillac to give you that. I think a Corvette should represent the latest in styling, definitely performance, handling, and definitely emit a rumbling of exhaust sound. And, yes, stay strictly American:usaribbon :usaribbon :usaribbon

I keep banging my head against the wall :banghead: trying to figure out GM's marketing strategies. I can't see why they can't go back to when you were able to custom order your Corvette.

Today I look at this convertible Anniversary Edition and people aren't stupid. GM just painted the car a custom color, put some cheap flags on it, and a custom color interior. Cost factor for them is zilch, and now they're trying to get $10-$20k over MSRP. And, where does that bring you? Being it's not a Ferrari, it's not going to bring in the clientele, such as doctors, lawyers etc. And, being it's not a Porsche (overpriced VW's), it's not going to bring in your young professionals who want the foreign exotics. I think that Corvette should be geared toward the upper working class people who need to get away from the daily routine, and get into something that's All American, and could blow the doors off of any exotic. And this market is very broad, so why doesn't GM see that. If they keep raising the price, it's going to end up like a ZR1, where only the rich could have afforded to buy it and then take a hit in depreciation without blinking an eye.

I hope they keep the C6 at a reasonable price and keep the goodies that Corvette is known for such as hidden headlamps and performance options.

Sometimes old habits are the best way, and usually the least expensive. You have to admit that the balance of the Vette today, especially the handling and gas mileage has improved drastically. Looking forward to what the C6 has to offer.:chevy:

From what I have read, I heard that they're going to do away with the Goodyear runflats, and just do some cosmetic changes to the body style. The engine on the basic model Corvette will be what's in the Z06 now. Seems like the General isn't about to make any drastic changes, especially in today's economy. They'll just do what they always do, and that's promote their product using slick marketing strategies, and keep costs down.

Let's just hope that they will make sure that any of the bugs that are in the C-5 have been worked out, gas gauge problem, steering colum lock, we all know the problems let's just hope they do....

They'll never take all the bugs out, and if they do, they'll only be brand new bugs. They do it purposely to generate work and stimulate the economy. What do you think about that?:usaribbon :chevy:
