What makes the '63-'67 C2 body style and performance a landmark in Corvette's history?

It's the lines of the car, a sexy but yet mean type of appearance that appeals to both men and women. It's the old look but don't touch type of curves......American Motors Magazine just voted the 63-67 Corvette's the "Coolest car of all time" against some pretty tough competition. The model and it's style has weathered the test of time and continues to be a head turner today as much if not more than it did at introduction.Coolest Car of all time is a fitting testament to this classic.

The C2, unlike most sports or sporty (pony) cars was small on the outside and big on the inside. Lots of passenger room and plenty of luggage space for two, especially the coupe. It remains more comfortable than the C1 or the C3.

It was American, and it drove and looked fantastic.

"midyear" corvettes hold a special spot for many people I believe because there were many "firsts" that came with it.1)The body style is timeless. It is as irresistable today as it was 45 yrs ago.2)A totally new interior with a dashboard that was so distinct, and simple in form and shape yet was elagant enough for all agea, men or women, depending on the options ordered.
I also believe that along with having the obvious shark likeness as we have come to hear the idea came from. The car has "speedboat" like design hints(such as behind the seats)which add to the cars allure that at times is hard to narrow down to one particular thing.

Jordan, I couldn't agree with you more. I also feel that the C5 Z06 hardtop is in the same category as the C2. Especially, that it's the first in Corvette history to be a fixed roof hardtop with a trunk, and a it's the third model added to the Corvette lineup. A lot of characteristics of the C2 are found on the C5, expecially the dashboard. It has that flair and the style of the C2, especially the new innovative body style bringing the tranny to the rear for more equal balance and incorporating wishbone suspension on all four wheels. :chevy: I think the C5 Z06 hardtop may be a classic within it's own era, and be the next generation c2 with it's timeless bodystyle.

found a shot of the 62 I sold to buy the 66 but could only find the pic of the 66 that the guy I bought it from took.(my pictures in the computer are not organized as well as they should be...)
Any way,triple black,leather,factory air,ps,pb,teak,teli,327/350hp,2 tops,knock off's,electric windows,
A real nice driver as the car didnt come with all these options, and has a one piece nose (which _ ucks)as I think it hurts the car the most.A little short on documentation but I;m happy to see a larger contingency getting away from that. There will always be the group that can run with that crowd ,but it wont be me(couldnt even afford the "buy in" to that game)
Happy to have one small piece of the action, thats all!.will send more pix, once I stumble on them as they are probably in some obscure file.Jordan
