C6 Corvette Roof Recall
Gerry, Chevrolet has implemeted a service bulletin for 2005-06 Corvettes with painted roofs. On certain 2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles, the painted roof panel may separate from its frame in some areas if it is exposed to stresses along with high temperature and humidity. The occupants of the vehicle may notice one or more of these symptoms: a snapping noise when driving over bumps, wind noise, poor roof panel fit, roof panel movement/bounce when a door or hatch is closed, or a water leak in the headliner.
The problem is corrected by applying adhesive foam to ensure proper adhesion, or in a small number of vehicles, replace the roof panel. Owners should check with their dealer to see if their Corvette falls within the VIN indicated below:
2005 Chevrolet Corvette 55100002 - 55135053
2006 Chevrolet Corvette 65100001 - 65100046

Forget the 06 :luxhello: The Household CEO said to go ahead and order the 07 and be done with it.:shift: So it looks like there will be an ATOMIC ORANGE METALLIC TINTCOAT in the Garage in about 6-8 weeks. Guess I won't be able to retire for another 5 years:chevy: But it will be FUN...

Good luck with the Vette..Kerbeck's is running a sale for a base model coupe, with the rebate, for around $40,900. My wife and I drove one, a convertible and a coupe, and like others we didn't like it all that much. I personally didn't like the front without the hidden headlights, and I don't like the side view. The interior and dash remind me of a Pontiac. To me it rides more like a regular car, instead of having that Vette feeling. But this is just my opinion.
Last week my wife and I picked up a Millenium Yellow 2003 Z06 with only 1,055 miles. ;bt
By the way, I noticed that you've been posting a lot when the events and shows come up. I am happy we can benefit your club. Just a reminder that this site is a non profit, and any contributions to St Judes Children's Hospital from any Corvette club or organization, would greatly be appreciated by the children.
Hey, instead of retiring in 5 yrs...make it 5 years and 1 day, by giving a little help to those kids.:usaribbon

My roof panel flew off at 60mph today!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The roof panel flew off my black 06 Z06 today going about 60mph. I heard a loud noise & looked out my rear mirror. I saw nothing, but a truck pulled up beside me & pointed at my roof. I pulled on the shoulder, got out & noticed I had no roof panel. I drove it to Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas and a red 06 Z06 had pulled in ten minutes earlier with its roof panel missing. The two Z06s with roof panels missing attracted a lot of attention at the dealership. They are ordering us new panels. Any other roof panel experiences and how was it repaired?

The C6 roofs were made out of a different composit than the C5 roofs. The glue that held them together did not stick to the new composite roof panels like it did on the C5..GM has now gone back to the composite they used on the C5 roof panels to cure the problem.. the high temps in the summer time made the glue not adhere to the new C6 roof panels..

Good Luck with the Z06:luxhello: Sounds like a Sharp ride !!
. It took me some time for the C6 to grow on me. I don't like the select ride so we ordered the Z 51 package and it has a real krisp responce but doesn't ride like a tank. We also decided on the 3LT package and the Chrome wheels. I Love the new Z06 but I would have to sell my House to buy one.:yikes:

Gerry,
I understand you have a relationship with the dealer you mentioned, however, I can not mention or give plugs for them here, for reasons I can not disclose. Would appreciate....thanks.
Remember, Michael Kotze, from Outten Chevrolet, if you ever need service...He is the best Corvette Technician in the area that we all know of.
Mike will take care of my new '07 Z when it comes in from Outten Chevrolet ...I ordered a yellow one. If I get the right price for my '03 I will sell it..if not it would be nice to have both. :usaribbon
