Just a quick question, need some input again. I use Endurance on the RWL radials with good appearance. Not shiney, just new looking. I have been told to use just soap & water on "red" line tires, that the protectants will harm the color, appearance, etc over the years. I still like a "new" appearance, any comments?

ez68vet,
I figured I would give you a little info, which you probably know. The center of gravity was lowered in your year for flat cornering and increased stability. Wheel rim width was increased to 7 inches. Coupled with the new F70-15 wide oval tires that are standard, overall handling of the '68 was something never before achieved in anything short of a car specially prepared for competition. The wider wheel, wide-oval tires with more rubber on the road plus the increase of nearly an inch in both front and rear tread added up to improved performance for the '68 Corvette. I believe they were Firestone tires. I had a '69 that had Kelly red line tires on it, back in '69. Mine was the British Racing Green, and it looked great together with the red line. I know this is not the answer to your question, but I thought you'd be interested.
As far as your question goes. There are so many products that are out there today. You have to use what works well for you. I do know that some products can leave a brown tint. How long have you been using this product, and have you actually noticed any discoloration? If not, and you have been using it on the same tires for years, then I think you have your answer. That's a really rough question for me to answer. I use Zaino and have never had a problem. I am not sure about Endurance, as I have never used it. I have found that tires that sit for a long time get discolored just from time, moisture and dampness. I'll check around also, and let you know if I come up with anything else. Hope this is of some help to you.

If I can chime in here. i use "Looks Wet No Mess" which is an aerosol product in a can. It sprays on in a thin film and doesn't fling off the tires when you are driving. It makes the tires look like a satin sheen to them, not real shiny but like a new tire.
You can check then out at www.supershinedetail.com

Alot of tire eachancing products also leave a film that will leave a Black stain on clothing if you contact it while leaning over the engine compartment.
Before applying tire Gels or any product, use dawn dishwashing liquid to clean the tires. this will remove old tire shine and road dirt. I know a detail man at a car dealer that uses floor wax on tires, What a Shine! This also needs to be removed after a show with Dawn!
Hope this helps!
Rick.
