Auto to manual speedo problems?

As my first stupid question is no longer a source of anxiety, I have this question.

When I swap out the Automatic in my 81 and put in the 1979 Muncie 4 speed, will I have a problem with the accuracy of the 85 MPH speedo?

Or, is the cable speed going to be the same as the auto (thus spinning the speedo at the same speed it was)

If you know the rear that the standard transmission came out of, and it's the same as yours, then there will be no reason to change the speedo gear. If you don't know the rear it came out of , then you'll need to calibrate with your rear. Call up either Stoudts Corvettes, or Just Corvettes, and tell them the tranny you're putting in and the rear gear ratio in rear. They'll be able to guide you in the right direction. Also, the cable may be a different length, which you can also ask about. Good luck
