I was talking to one of my friends, whose a rep for GM chevrolet division, and he was saying that GM is playing with the market a little bit, to get a feel as to what to sell the Z06 for. He said no way are they going to sell it for $75K, and it's all marketing strategies. These magazines just want to sell books, and GM doesn't mind them mentioning their name and pricing the car higher than what they are really going to sell it for.

Let's face it the aluminum chassis is cheaper to manufacture. It's not a convertible or a coupe, so less parts needed. And, they're only preparing the new engine that they're putting in for the new and up and coming Corvette for the next series. GM learned their lesson with the ZR1. And, their marketing strategy for the Z06 sold more cars than their marketing strategy for the ZR1. If Dave Hill wants a job, I'm sure he doesn't want to fall into the ZR1 strategy of an overly priced Vette.

The new Z will come in, I feel, between $57,000 MSRP to no more than $59,000. You can take your stock C6 and bring it to Lingenfelter and have it modified for less money, to go way over 600HP, so why pay $75K for an aluminum chassis and a so called overboard small block. If GM does that then they're just trying to hit the foreign market, as the foreign may be naive about GM's marketing strategies. Just my humble opinion. But knowing the General.......? :dunno: :usaribbon

I definitely agree. There's no way that I would buy a Z06 for $75,000 when it looks the same as the coupe, and only has 100hp more, and just weighs a little less. I could see the same mistake being made as with the ZR1. I rather get a Viper with two pistons more, looks prettier than the Z06, and knowing that the Z06 was copied from the Viper to look a little like it. I am so sick of GM selling their cars by flooding the consumer with advertisements..."We could beat a Jet", "We do better than 3.9 in the quarter mile", "Best bang for your Buck" (this one won't be the case any more). That Viper has two cylinders more, a hell of a lot more torque, a hell of a lot more style, and not much more money. GM has Bull****ted us long enough, and now they want to rape our wallets.
