I was talking to one of my friends, whose a rep for GM chevrolet division, and he was saying that GM is playing with the market a little bit, to get a feel as to what to sell the Z06 for. He said no way are they going to sell it for $75K, and it's all marketing strategies. These magazines just want to sell books, and GM doesn't mind them mentioning their name and pricing the car higher than what they are really going to sell it for.
Let's face it the aluminum chassis is cheaper to manufacture. It's not a convertible or a coupe, so less parts needed. And, they're only preparing the new engine that they're putting in for the new and up and coming Corvette for the next series. GM learned their lesson with the ZR1. And, their marketing strategy for the Z06 sold more cars than their marketing strategy for the ZR1. If Dave Hill wants a job, I'm sure he doesn't want to fall into the ZR1 strategy of an overly priced Vette.
The new Z will come in, I feel, between $57,000 MSRP to no more than $59,000. You can take your stock C6 and bring it to Lingenfelter and have it modified for less money, to go way over 600HP, so why pay $75K for an aluminum chassis and a so called overboard small block. If GM does that then they're just trying to hit the foreign market, as the foreign may be naive about GM's marketing strategies. Just my humble opinion. But knowing the General.......? :dunno: :usaribbon
