Just wondering the best place and brand of paint to purchase. I want to put my 68 back to the original 986 color code. It is the silverstone silver.
Thanks,
Cain

Welcome aboard Cain!
With all the products out there, it is hard to decide which to use. If you're lucky, you can check with some auto body supply shops. They still may have factory package lacquer colors in stock, by Dupont, Sherwin Williams, R&M or Ditzler. It's a slim chance, but always a possibility. You could also post on any Corvette forum, as you did here, and you may find someone that carries it. I would try calling Paul at B&S auto body. He specializes in Corvette restorations. His number is on my home page. Tell him that FatherLarry sent you and he'll guide you in the right direction. If it was me I'd use Dupont, ChromaBase, which is a base-coat/clear-coat product.
You may also want to try going to some car shows in the summer. Look at the finishes on the C3's and whatever hits your fancy that you like, talk to the owner of the vehicle, and I'm sure any Vette owner would be happy to tell you their experiences when restoring their Vette. You can also try local Corvette clubs in your area. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
