CORVETTE PLANT SHUT DOWN as of Noon 10/6/04
This is what I read!
The Corvette Plant has been shut down.
From the NCM
(UPDATED: 5:30P CST 10/6/2004)
The R8C museum deliveries are not cancelled, but they have postponed the deliveries of the C6 Corvette 6-speed for next week until there is more info on the problem with the 6-speed transmissions.
They will deliver all of the automatics next week and any automatics in the future once the line starts up. The assembly line had something break and they sent workers home today and they will not report tomorrow.
Once the mechanical problem on the line itself is corrected, my understanding is they will continue to build automatics.
Any Corvettes with automatic transmissions that have been built will be delivered at the NCM once they can get them from Allied.
There is what they believe to be a problem with the 6-speed manual transmissions. It's my understanding from speaking with the NCM that a new truckload of transmissions are on the way to Bowling Green, KY - hopefully by Friday afternoon.
