My interior lights seem to flicker intermittantly depending on the condition of the road. If the terrain is really bumpy they flicker, sometimes they stay off. I noticed the DOOR AJAR light flickers at the same time. I'm figuring that it's a loose electrical something or other???

Your door ajar switches are starting to go out. You can try to spray some tuner cleaner on them, pass door also. They are slightly adjustable by pulling the end out a bit, very carefully. If they have to be changed out can do it without taking off the door panel on some years. You can try taping a dime to the black plastic disc on the B pillar to see if that helps. That's where the D/ajar contacts the body.

Try checking the dimmer on your headlight switch.:shift:

My interrior lights started coming on after hitting a small bumps in the road and refused to go off. I just about went bananas after checking all the switches and not finding the problem. I thought it may have been a grounding problem(which are not fun BTW).
It turned out to be the interior light timer. My mechanic told me that the timer on C-4s is prone to overheating if you leave the door/hatch ajar for more than 8-10 minutes. A new timer is about $40 I think.

Not sure what the problem was but I took the battery loose and hooked it up a day later and the problem went away. The lights have not came back on yet. Ron

It seems more like what wilezcoyote & rapid rabbit are talking about. Besides, wouldn't disconnecting the battery also wipe out the radio? I bought my car "pre-owned" so I don't have the radio codes to unlock it if I just disconnect my battery. Thank you very much for your suggestion.

Do you have your owner's manual. I think it will tell how to check to see if a code has been entered. Changed the battery in my 90 & it cost me a trip to the dealer's & 60 bucks to unlock the radio.

Can anyone tell me where the interior light timer is in the car? I've got a manual but it's basically useless when it comes to specifics. My interior lights stay on for about 30 minutes after I open the door.... Not great when you're driving at night...
Thanks,
Dave.

Don't know your exact year, but I would start by checking;
1. The dimmer rheostat on the headlight switch.
2. You may have a bad door ajar or hatch switch.
3. Make sure the door key switch is vertical on both doors.:confused:

It was the door key on the passenger side causing the problem. That's the wierdest thing I've ever seen but after I locked and unlocked the door with the key the lights started working....
Thanks everyone for your feedback and help.
Dave.
