I have a 2004 triple blk vert. w/ approx. 250 mi.
The hood of the car has a small swirl mark that I did notice when I bought the car (I figured I could buff/wax it out) but upon closer inspection it looks like a bird may have left a spot on it and someone carelessly wiped it off (dealership or tranport co.).

I cannot really feel it when I rub my finger upon it and to be honest you have look hard and in direct sunlight to really see it, but I know its there !

Is there something I should try to remove it, or am I most likely going to make it worse and the area around it worse. I put a couple of coats of Zaino on and the Swirl marks around it are gone, or at least not visable!

I am hesitant to do something to cause a repaint even though I was told it may be a warranty claim. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi mmclaughlin,

Great color, but difficult to take care of. My personal opinion and also professional opinion, is that if you can live with it and it's not that noticeable, and you have to look that hard to find it, then leave it alone. It's very hard to duplicate a factory match if you do have to wind up painting it, even with black.

It's hard to say if it penetrated the clear coat and got through to the paint, unless a professional sees it. Anytime you use, even a light abrasive, it's removing some clearcoat. If you keep on rubbing it out to try to make it disappear, you may break through the clearcoat and then it will become very visible. Let the dealer know about it so they can put it on record, and if it gets any worse, maybe then have a professional look at it.

Probably good sound advice. Others would never notice it, and I would hate to attempt a fix and end up making a minor paint flaw worse. I assume applying Zaino Z5/2 over the top of it is no problem?

BTW great looking site, thanks for all the work you obviously have put into it fatherlarry.
