While taking our '63 vette apart, the heater box was removed and being cleaned. Inside it we found a tiny metal, brass I believe, box with a hinged lid and an oval opening in the top. It's about 1"x1". Inside this box was a tiny glass tube with sealed ends. Inside this glass tube was a very tiny printed message that appears to be Hebrew in nature from what a friend says.

One end of this box had a magnet on it. It was cleaved to a piece of metal in the box so as to keep it from flying around and making noise I assume.

It's unlikely that this could have fallen in there. The heater box was riveted in and sealed. It must have been put there when made.

Has anyone else found something like this?

Thanks, Oceana Rose

That's very interesting! Time capsule maybe? Can you have someone translate it? Let us know......and BTW...welcome to the forum. Love '63's. Let's see some pics.;bt

Any relation to Tokyo Rose?

What does it translate to? If I were you, I'd have it circumcized! Do you know any Hebrews? I'm really curious now. Please let us know what it says when you find out. Bring it to a Rabbi. Do you have any Jewish temples in your area?

We are hoping that when I get my scanner hooked up again, that we can scan it and make it large enough to send to someone to decipher. A relative has some connections and may know a person who can translate it. If not then I'll try the local college.

I feel it might be some kind of prayer. But then I don't really know anything. It's not hand written it's very tiny print.

The '63 is being rebuilt from the ground up. The body is being fixed up and painted, the frame has been cleaned and powdercoated. The engine is on the body now and parts are being cleaned and rebuilt or reassembled now. I may take some photos of it's progress for you all. I suppose there's a way to see photos on this bulletinboard? I'll have to investigate how to show you.

We also have a 72 Vette that has already been rebuilt. It's red with black interior. The '63 was and will be silver with black interior.

I'll have to let you know what's going on at least. Waiting for warm weather to take the 72 out. Too much sloppy water standing around right now from snow melt.

Thanks for letting me post here. You all seem like a nice group of people. I am usually online doing gardening things and have a site in MSN similar to this. http://groups.msn.com/GardeningOnly

That is where I got my name. I used to do a lot of online gardening in the former Prodigy. Oceana Rose is a name of a specific rose. We all chose flower names for chat.

I'll let you know what I find, as I just started my 63 SWC resto...and the heater core leaked years ago. So I'll be pulling it out to replace it. (And look for that secret brass door):D
