Production Numbers for 2001 Z06 Hardtop 5,773
Production Numbers for 2002 Z06 Hardtop 8,297

Production Numbers for 2003 Z06 Hardtop 8,635

Not too many made for the whole run of C5's opposed to vert and coupe. Total production for non Z06's up until 03 is 191,966, whereas, only 22, 705 Z06's were made so far. That's only 11% of total Corvettes. That's a low percentage considering the amount of Corvettes sold overall. And, Electronic Blue was cut short in '03. Being EB brings out the body style of the car and is very pretty, and seems to be pretty well in demand by many Corvette enthusiasts, it would seem to be kind of rare.

I saw the new Vette (C6) and personally I'm not that crazy about it. I don't like the way the wheel wells are cut flat opposed to the C5, where they are sharper instead of having a qurater in rim around it. I definitely don't like the headlamps. I do like the way the fenders come up a little more, but to tell you the truth the C5 is a classic style and will be desireable long after the C6. I also didn't realize what a low percentage of Z06's are out there. Think about all the Corvettes since 1953-present and by the time '04 production ends there will probably only be around 30,000 Z06's around. How many raced or wrecked? The styling of the hardtop is more in demand than the ZR1 (C4) styling. I think that it will always bring a good $ in and always be desired more than coupes or verts. I would even rather have the Z06 opposed to the ZR1, even thought there are less ZR1's around.

Very low percentage.....TopVette.

I was thinking of getting the C6 when it came out. I was all hyped up but when I saw it was really disappointed. I hate the dash. Looks like a Pontiac Trans Am. Doesn't have that Vette look, just more like a Chevy Lumina. I'm not going to wait for the Z06 500 hp to come out. Because if they are asking $150K for the GT, $87K for the Viper, and around $80K for the new Cadillac on the Vette platform, by the time the new Z comes out and the economy is turned around, you'll be talking at least $70-$75K for the new Z. I'm going to go and get myself a C5 Z06 now. Even though a decent one is about $38K it will only increase in value when the new Z comes out. I could always mod it out to 500 hp. After looking at the low percentage of C5 Z's around, I know I'll be making a good decision and not have to worry about losing money if I take good care of it.
