Hello Father; You helped me immensely with some tips on my 66 roadster and its VIN/option questions>I am still working on locating the VIN on the frame to see if it matches the engine and the tag under the glove box.(I couldnt see it with a mirror,so when I finally get it on a lift I'll find it I hope and will get to the bottom of all of this.
New question;I need new tires.I drove this car cross country from Albuquerque to Connecticut (via Orlando)and the tires were very "iffy" when I left!!.I made it and am now researching Goldline radials.Coker makes one, which is produced by Denman tires(they specialize in tractor and truck tires!!)I contacted a company called Black Diamond Classics about who produces their goldline with no response(my guess is Denman!)I flirted with the idea of experimenting with "dyeing"a whitewall tire(eventually a Michelin would go on the car,as they are ultra quiet(not very American but quiet!!)I would also like to go a size up from the stock 205 tire, maybe a 225/15.
Can you direct me to a supplier of high quality Goldline tires of various sizes?.or can you tell me how crazy it is to dye(kill?)a perfectly good whitewall tire!!.
One last item;I am installing a telescopic column in this car(tatally rebuilt to NCRS specs(correct paint daubs and all)If my car has had options added to it since new, will this effect it adversely for resale??.Or since it has been "optioned up"allready. Is it the more the merrier!!.I should add that everything that has been done to the car has been done with the highest degree of proffesionalism. Thanks for your advice!,Its the highlight of the day getting your responses!!.Jordan Grant

Hey Jordan,

Seems like you're having fun and enjoying your Corvette. As far as your tire question, most of the tire companies use today's technology and a lot of the companies that make the reproductions use the old molds, but new materials. This is something that you have to make up your own mind in.

As far as taking away value of the car by adding options that the car didn't originally come with as an option, it will take points away from the car for originality. Anything you add which is as close to original equipment as possible for that year and model shouldn't hurt the value, but it won't add value as would having the original stock equipment. Well good luck, and let me know how you make out.
