1984-1990:
The arrival of the new body style in '84 was anticipated more than
any other in Corvette history. Car and Driver test
results showed a 0-60 time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 138mph. The
big exterior change came as a convertible in 1986. The big engine change
came in 1989 when the Corvette introduced a 6-speed manual transmission
and selective ride control.
A
base 1990 coupe cost $32,000, the convertible ran around $37,000 and the
ZR-1 cost nearly $59,000. The ZR-1 was visually set apart from the others
by a wider back end and square tail lamps. |
